This is a nice scenic area where you can walk around the water and take a little break. It’s a short hike to the lake but it’s steep, so make sure you have proper footwear. It offers some nice scenery and when we took it in August, we only saw a few other cars, so it’s a nice place to drive to get away from the crowds when visiting Yellowstone.Īfter you’ve spotted some wildlife, make your way to Trout Lake. It’s a one-way dirt road so if you’re going to take it, take it on your way to Lamar Valley. You can head directly there if you’d like, but a nice detour is Blacktail Plateau Drive.
