There are other tapes labeled as washi that have different characteristics and don’t work well for this process because the tape either sticks “too much” or leaves residue or doesn’t stay attached long enough to paint. In the examples with painter’s tape I’ve used either Frogtape or 3M Blue Tape which you can find at the hardware store (in the house paint department) or Amazon. I’ve tried masking with 3 different types of tape. I let the ink dry a bit longer than with acrylics as it tends to be more fussy and leave irregular edges if too wet. I wait 10-15 minutes before peeling the tape off of the paper but not too long as it becomes more difficult to remove.
